Lillian Brents is the President of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1447 in Louisville, Kentucky, where she leads the union representing TARC’s coach operators, mechanics, dispatch and customer service professionals. A steady and respected voice for fairness, safety, and dignity in the workplace, Brents is known for her ability to advocate fiercely while keeping members informed, supported, and united. Her leadership centers on protecting workers’ rights, strengthening contract enforcement, and ensuring that Louisville’s transit system values the people who keep it moving every day.

Freda Withers is a dedicated coach operator for TARC and serves as the Financial Secretary of ATU Local 1447, where she works to support members and strengthen the union’s commitment to fairness, accountability, and service. In her role, she helps ensure the financial integrity of the local and advocates for the needs of our union professionals.

Beyond her union responsibilities, Freda is a youth minister and community leader at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she mentors and uplifts young people through faith‑based guidance. She is also an entrepreneur, co‑founder of SoulLadies502, and owner of Splash by Cara LLC and MC Snack Packs.

A proud mother of three, Freda brings her passion for leadership, service, and empowerment into every space she serves, on the road, in the community, and within ATU Local 1447.

Joseph Szerletich

MV Transit

Joseph Szerletich

Joseph Szerletich works at MV and serves as a committed Board Member of ATU Local 1447. He is a member of the MV Transit Contract Negotiation Committee, where he helps represent and advocate for his fellow operators during the bargaining process.

Joseph has completed multiple trainings with ATU International, including New Union Steward Training and New Officer Training, strengthening his skills in member representation, contract enforcement, and union leadership.

In his day‑to‑day role, Joseph is responsible for helping keep MV buses and property in clean, safe, and reliable working order, supporting both operators and the riding public. He brings a strong dedication to fairness, accountability, and service in every aspect of his work with ATU Local 1447.
