ATU Local 1756 Election for Officers
All members of Local 1756:
As you are aware, the Local is close to being released from the Trusteeship. As such, we must begin the process of holding Union Officer Elections. Anyone who wishes to serve on the election committee should contact the Union office by no later than Wednesday, September 30, 2020. This committee will be responsible for running the Local Union election and will be comprised of not more than three (3) members in good standing who do not intend to run for an elected position. Of the three (3) members, one (1) will serve as chair and have the responsibility to supervise all aspects of the election.
You may not serve as an election official and also be a candidate. If you accept a nomination to run for office, you will be replaced on the election committee. The committee will be provided a copy of “Conducting Local Union Officer Elections, A Guide For Election Officials” which is published by the United States Department of Labor. The Committee shall be responsible for following this guide. The Committee will be responsible for answering member questions, preparing the sample and official mail out ballots, preparing and mailing out Election Notices and all other responsibilities assigned to them. This is an important committee and the committee will be expected to handle it with gravity and respect for its important role.
If you are interested, contact the Local Union at (626) 522-0182 to have your name added to the list. Please also indicate if you are willing to serve as chair of the committee.”
