About Us

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 639 was organized on July 10, 1913.

The ATU was organized in 1892 for the common purpose of bargaining collectively to improve wages, benefits and working conditions.

Local 639 represents maintenance staff and bus operators at Lextran in Lexington, KY.
