About Us
Local 128 was organized on September 15th, 1892!!
We are located in Asheville, NC the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
We represent (ART) Asheville Rides Transit bus operators and Garage employees, currently we have around 50 Bus operators and 16 garage employees. With new operators coming on board, our membership continues to grow beyond 40 brothers and sisters! We have started a mentorship program through the ATU. Mentors are being selected and trained this month. In addition, we are working with the current agency to develop an improved and enclosed operator workspace by partnering with the ATU International. Very exciting prospects are drawing nearer!
ATU 128 is currently seeking to be involved with Request for Proposal process and evaluation in Asheville as new agencies come to bid on running Asheville Rides Transit. As we seek accountability, respect, and high quality management, we hold strong in solidarity locally and with utmost respect for each other.
